The scrap recycling industry that not many people cared about in the past has now ushered in the strongest support group. On December 28, 2020, 12 departments including the Ministry of Commerce issued a notice encouraging "Internet + recycling of waste materials" and relaxing restrictions on vehicles for recycling waste materials and entering communities.
1. Policy + environmental awareness to accelerate industry growth
In July 2016, the "Industrial Green Development Plan" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology classified the utilization of renewable resources as the main target, which promoted the healthy development of the resource recycling industry. Judging from the results, the policy has also effectively boosted the overall output value of the industry: from 2016 to 2018, the total value of recycling of my country's top ten types of renewable resources has risen year after year, and in 2018 it exceeded 800 billion yuan, an increase of 15.3% year-on-year.
In addition, the "2019 Top 100 Renewable Resources Industry Summit" mentioned that China is currently in the midst of a period of waste sorting machine and VAT revisions for renewable resources. For renewable resource recycling companies, a series of policies are undoubtedly an important opportunity.
2. Fierce competition in the scrap war, companies can hardly escape their destiny
However, good policies will not be exclusive to Old Li. A large number of new waste recycling companies have also heard the news, and new competitors have quickly emerged. The increase in the number of enterprises in 2019 has reached a new high, and the number of new enterprises in the whole year reached 34,000.
As of March 2020, there are 432,000 waste recycling-related enterprises in my country. However, from the perspective of capital distribution, the number of companies with registered capital less than 1 million yuan is the largest, at 424,000, accounting for 98% of the total number of waste recycling companies in the country. It can be said that today's waste recycling industry is dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises with fierce competition.
In addition, because the protection of raw materials is highly dependent on the market economy environment and the product structure is too single, waste recycling companies generally have poor risk resistance. At the beginning of 2020, with the spread of the epidemic, scrap steel prices fell for two consecutive months, and the recycling prices of waste paper, waste plastics, and precious metals also fell to varying degrees.
Beginning in March 2020, many places have begun to conduct specific rectification of the urban and rural environment, list the waste industry as a key inspection object, or require the waste collection sites in the city to move out of the urban planning area by themselves. Many scrap-collecting bosses have been notified that they need to rectify and move before they resume work.
3. Intelligent and rapid measurement of demand, accelerating the transformation of enterprises from waste into treasure
Obtaining customers in offline marketing has obviously become more difficult. "The more we move, the more biased, no one knows our company.". Some people in the industry have pointed out that these problems can be solved using the Internet. Online marketing will break down geographical barriers, reduce the cost of publicity and marketing, and improve conversion efficiency.

When other industries are in recession, the supply side and demand side decrease simultaneously, and vice versa.
